Overlord of Evil and kicker of puppies everywhere!
Series: Masters of the Universe
Year: 1982

If people are asked to name the most iconic villains of the 1980s, then Skeletor is almost certain to appear on any such list. Maybe somewhere between Darth Vader and Megatron. His skull-headed visage with the purple cowl and blue skin is embedded in the cultural consciousness of all kids from that age and he hasn't run out of steam since, as there are Skeletor figures in toy stores even today. His origins have changed somewhat, as he started out as a demon lord from another dimension before being retconned into He-Man's uncle Keldor, now either changed into a demon or merged with a demon at the hands of Hordak.

This here is the original Skeletor toy from 1982 (possibly late 1981 in some parts of the world) and he holds up well. He wears what is basically a more evil-looking version of He-Man's chest harness, an armored loin cloth, and comes with his signature ram staff and one half of the Power Sword, which can combine with He-Man's half into the complete Power Sword and open up Castle Grayskull.

Bottom line: Skeletor is definitely among the most iconic 80s villains and one of the most iconic toys from that decade as well. If you are even slightly a fan of Masters of the Universe, you need a Skeletor.
