Call me Batman, I dare you!
Series: Masters of the Universe Classics
Real Name: Hec-Tor Kun
Title: Ruthless Leader of the Horde Invasion
Year: 2009

Second born heir to the Horde Empire, Hec-Tor Kur arrived on the planet Eternia while battling the cosmic warrior He-Ro. Taking the name Hordak, he raised an army and challenged the Snake Men for rule over the planet. And although he defeated King Hssss, Grayskull, leader of the free people of Eternia succeeded in banishing him to the dimension of Despondos. It was there that centuries later Hordak contacted a young alchemist named Keldor and began teaching him the ways of the dark arts in exchange for freedom from his extra-dimensional prison.

Review: When Skeletor started to get a bit stale, the Masters of the Universe comic books introduced a new, more powerful, and scarier villain for He-Man to contend with: Hordak, Skeletor's teacher and former mentor. As far as toys and comics were concerned, Hordak (and his Evil Horde) firmly belonged on the He-Man side of things, but when Filmation started their spin-off series She-Ra, it was decided that Hordak would move on over to Etheria and be the main foil of He-Man's sister.

The Classics Hordak figure mostly references the old MotU toy and comic versions, not so much Hordak's appearance in the She-Ra cartoon. He's got his slightly weird crossbow, his cape, and no way to turn his arm into a cannon. Hordak can remove both his chest armor and his collar and cape, which causes him to look totally different in my book. He also comes with a bat-themed staff, probably because Skeletor's got his Ram-staff and Hordak got jealous or something.

Personally, while I love Skeletor as a villain, I always considered Hordak to be the greater threat (even though the cartoon mostly played him as the lesser of the two villains). So when the Classics line brought out this cool figure, I snatched him up immediately.
