No idea what this thing does, but it sure is shiny!
Series: Masters of the Universe Classics
Real Name: Ro
Title: Heroic Cosmic Warrior
Year: 2009

Given the sword of He by the Overlords of the Timeless Dimension of Trolla, Ro was told to “go forth and combat evil”. During one such epic battle, he was infected with a techno-organic virus by Horde Supreme and sent through a vortex to the magic planet of Eternia. Once there, he was healed by Eldor in a mystical pool which absorbed his virus. In gratitude, He-Ro swore to help free Eternia from the Snake Men and Horde invaders. He defended the free people alongside the great King Grayskull, eventually bequeathing his sword to the King upon his heroic death.

Review: He-Ro is an interesting character in that he was originally designed for the never-realized "Powers of Grayskull" toyline, which was supposed to follow the original vintage line. It was not until 2009 and the Classics line, though, that He-Ro was finally made into a toy, based on the original designs. He-Ro was initially released as an SDCC exclusive, but the later retail figure is practically identical. The only way to identify the SDCC version is by removing the chest harness, as the exclusive has an SDCC logo on his chest underneath it.

He-Ro looks like ... well, the quintessential hero, with his muscles, chunky boots, chest harness and headband. He carries a blue version of the Power Sword (his profile stating that this IS the Power Sword, which was originally his) and a wizard's staff, which opens up to reveal a gem stone. There are actually three different color variants to the crystal inside, red, green, and purple. There is no way to tell which color variant you'll get until you unpack the figure and open up the staff.

Bottom line, He-Ro is an interesting figure. His lack of media presence might turn off some people, but overall I like him a lot and it's kind of sad that the full story of Preternia, where he fought alongside King Grayskull against the Snake-Men and the Horde, was never fully told except in the odd flashback here and there.
